Shipping Terms & Costs
All drum/barrel orders may be picked up at our plant located at 7021 Augusta Road, Greenville, SC 29605 or shipped via common carriers or by Encore Container’s in-house fleet when ordered in truckload quantities. We typically ship barrels 1-2 days after receipt of payment. Shipping cost is calculated based on quantity of barrels ordered and distance from Greenville, SC to the customers shipping location. Tax will be applied for in-state purchases and for out-of-state if purchased by individuals versus from a business.

Local Pick-Up
All drum/barrel orders may be picked up at our plant located at 7021 Augusta Road, Greenville, SC 29605. Our hours are Monday-Friday, 8am-4pm. If picking up barrels, there is no shipping/handling charge.
Refund/Exchange Policy
Returns are accepted on barrels that are new and unused. Return shipping fees are not covered and must be paid by the customer. .
Damaged or Defective Items
If you feel you have received a damaged or defective barrel, contact us by phone at (864) 277-2887 or email us. We may require a photo and/or the original item to be returned to us.
Ready to Ship your Barrel?
Customs & Regulations
Once you have filled your barrel and it is ready to ship overseas, your overseas freight carrier can help you with completing the proper paperwork. Each country has its own requirements and rules around inbound shipments. We recommend you contact the carrier for specific rules and packing instructions BEFORE you pack and fill your barrel. There are many items that are prohibited, and rules vary by country.
Shipping to islands involves navigating the customs and import regulations of the destination country which can vary significantly. Proper packing and documentation are crucial to ensure that the goods arrive safely and without delays. You may want to consider insurance as well.
Finding an LTL Supplier
Many of our 77-gallon customers are Caribbean logistics companies that offer barrels, arrange for the shipping to the ports, and the loading on the shipping vessel containers. In addition, these logistics companies will send their box trucks to their customers’ homes and retrieve the filled barrels when they are ready for shipment. Many of our customers offer this service for as little as just one filled drum depending on your geographic location.

A 77-gallon closed head drum can be sealed by applying the manufacturer's recommended torque to the opening bum on top of the container. An open-head container can be sealed by placing the lid on top, then apply the locking ring and closing it according to the closure and structures provided by the manufacturer.
You can seal a 77-gallon plastic open head drum by placing the cover on top of the container, applying the locking ring, closing it, and then securing the latch.

A 77-gallon drum can be opened by removing one of the two bongs located on top of the container. An open-head 77-gallon drum can be opened by unlatching the locking ring, removing the ring and then removing the cover. An open head can also be opened by just using the bong located on top of the drum cover.

77-gallon drums can be transported in a variety of ways via trucks, boats or airplanes, depending on the need and the urgency of the contents.
It is more common to ship 77-gallon empty drums by LTL or full truckload transport carriers. Small quantities can be shipped via UPS or FedEx.
You can ship drums by rail, however it is not very common. You can also ship drums by airplane although this method may be very expensive. -
77-gallon barrels are often used for transporting goods to hurricane-stricken areas and reused to provide aid to the islands. They drums (barrels) can be used to send hurricane aid or simply food and medical supplies and other needs that provide relief to areas in need.

We do not recommend utilizing used or second-hand containers as they may have traces of hazardous materials due to whatever was initially stored in them.

Encore Container noticed a market need for 77-gallon shipping barrels and drums with Just In Time delivery, a logistics strategy where barrels are delivered to a customer only when they are needed, minimizing the need for storage and inventory costs. To meet this demand, Encore Container expanded its drum capacity by adding a new, dedicated, blow molder. We manufacture safepack 77-gallon barrels with a choice of virgin or PCR (post-consumer regrind) resins.
